Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is a website that allows you to design, develop, and maintain a website. The site has some cool features like Live View, HTML data sets, and a new user interface. The Live view allows you to use real world browser conditions while maintaining the ability to access your codes, and all changes are instantly displayed. HTML data sets let you use dynamic data without having to learn and databases or XML Coding. You will be able to work faster and smarter by toggling thru one work environment to the next with the workspace switcher.

There is not much negative feedback on Dreamweaver except for the price. It will cost anywhere from 300 to 400 dollars. All in all it is a great tool for web designers; it has all the tools they need to create good looking websites.

FrontPage

FrontPage use to be an award winning web authoring tool, but it is no longer being produced. Microsoft has introduced two new products Office Share Point Designer and Expression Web, they were introduced in 2007. I will focus on Expression Web. Expression Web makes it real easy to make a template that you can use to create dynamic web pages. If you make a change on the template while you were working on a web page it ask you if you want to update and it does it automatically. It allows you to make interactive site with videos, audio, or animation with drag and drop controls.

There is some negativity for Expression web. Some do not like the fact that its interface is not ser friendly. It could use some photo editors like macromedia. Most of the people really like EW thought and they are enjoying the new things that were added to it.

Kompozer

Kompozer is an open source web design site. Open source means that is created by people who care about putting out a good product without the red tape of licensing. People play a role in giving input about the product and they help make it better. Kompozer is free to download and is a good product for it being free.

This site or tool allows you to do all the things that the high price site/tools let you do. It may have some issues like adding an update to a wrong page, but this happens when you are working on multiple pages. It also does not have any short cut templates or preset tags with auto complete. On the upside, it’s portable, free and works on all platforms. As stated earlier it does just about everything the others do for free.
